How to use kaizen to learn Japanese and Foreign languages?

Japanese Language Learning Tips

Introduction to the word Japanese: Assumptions and Problems

As soon as one hears about the Japanese language, quite a lot of things pop in head, some adjectives like difficult, hard, complicated, impossible, of course the Japanese anime, Japanese cuisine, culture and cherry blossom.

Japanese is considered to be one of the most difficult languages to learn. People often complain about it being so difficult but never really have a solution against that problem. So why is learning Japanese an arduous journey?

The grammar, the vocabulary, three separate ways of writing, a complicated hierarchy of politeness and kanji.

The list of problems and hassle goes on and on.

Solution to the Problems: Kaizen

The solution to it lies in their culture itself. Japanese are so devoted, committed and earnest in anything they do. This reflects really well in both their professional and personal life.

One such philosophy Kaizen refers to, business activities that continuously improve all functions and involve all employees from CEO to assembly line workers.

Kaizen means change for the better or continuous improvement.

How can this help us learn a language better?

A language can never be an affair, it’s always a committed relationship that demands and gives you many things in return. The first thing that it demands is Time, the second thing is consistency and the third thing is motivation. All these things combine and make Kaizen. A systematic way of learning is required while learning a language like Japanese. One thing at a time and follow this everyday. It doesn’t ask you to make huge changes instead they are small, isolated and easy to implement.

For example, learn one kanji a day thoroughly and keep doing this until you reach your desired goal.

Same applies while learning grammar. One concept at a time.

What we generally do is, we sit for hours once in a week or ten days and expect that we should master the language. It’s not in the mass but tiny things.

Kaizen can be applied to any aspect of life and hence is a philosophy that can change your life. Small steps to see the big difference.

Stop complaining and start Kaizen-ing
