German – Goethe Certification

The main German language proficiency exams offered by the Goethe-Institut are:

  1. Goethe-Zertifikat A1: Start Deutsch 1
  2. Goethe-Zertifikat A2: Start Deutsch 2
  3. Goethe-Zertifikat B1
  4. Goethe-Zertifikat B2
  5. Goethe-Zertifikat C1
  6. Goethe-Zertifikat C2: Großes Deutsches Sprachdiplom (GDS)

Each exam corresponds to a specific level of proficiency according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). The exams assess the four language skills: listening, reading, writing, and speaking. We have laid out detailed exam patterns for you for each level.
