French — Exams & Pathways

NCLC / CLB

The Canadian benchmarks (French NCLC / English CLB) your TEF or TCF score converts into for immigration points.

CLB (Canadian Language Benchmarks) and its French equivalent NCLC (Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens) are the scales Canada uses to measure language for immigration. Your TEF/TCF raw scores are converted into an NCLC level, which then maps to CRS points.

NCLC 7 is the level most worth targeting — it unlocks the meaningful French CRS bonus. Knowing the NCLC target keeps preparation honest: you are training to a benchmark, not a vague 'good French'.

What level / visa it maps to

NCLC 7 ≈ CEFR B2 — the key threshold for strong Canada PR points.

We'll be straight with you about the level and timeline your goal actually needs — then get you there.
