Bonjour Frenchies! Learning a language is not a cup of tea. French may be considered as one of the easiest languages to learn, but all of us need some help. Here are 5 tips to learn French! Allons-y!

Tips to learn French!

  1. Consistency is the key!

Language learning is all about inculcating habits. Practicing your French daily is essential. You can use many ways to do it, for example: following Instagram handles with good content, using applications like Duolingo to practice vocabulary, going through flashcards, solving grammar exercises and talking to other fellow learners in French. Be creative and find your own way too! 🙂

But, for now, here are a few Instagram handles that you can follow!

  1. Netflix, Chill and Learn!

Do you feel guilty to have spent a lot of time streaming shows? All you need to do is start watching French shows and practice your language. Watching shows and movies will not only enhance your vocabulary, but also your listening skills, your pronunciations and will also give you a bit of information about the culture there.

Here are some recommendations for you!

  1. Be a listener!

We often tend to be speakers rather than listeners. However, learning a language requires you to be a listener first and then a speaker. Listening to podcasts in French will not only improve your listening skills which are useful in your exams, but also improve your vocabulary in various subject matters.

Here are some podcast recommendations for you!

  1. Shush… Reading in process!

Reading has always been a hobby with a lot of perks. Though it does not interest a lot of people, while you learn a language, you should try to be a reader. Novels and short stories are a good idea for all the fellow bookworms out there, but for the others, reading articles from newspapers and magazines can do the deal.

  1. Find your french ami.e!

Finding your soulmate is a task, but you can always find yourself a language partner either in your own class, or someone from your circle, or from applications like HelloTalk, Tandem or Bilingua. A native speaker is always suggested, however, a fellow learner works just fine. Talking to someone in French regularly can help you work on your fluency, as well as your vocabulary. Your partner can help you with words you do not know and vice versa. Mais Attention! You must follow the only French rule.

So these were the 5 tips to learn French. Hope your language learning journey is just as exciting and enriching as you hoped it to be!
