German Level A1 Online Course Description

Level A1 corresponds to basic users of the language, i.e. those able to communicate in everyday situations with commonly-used expressions and phrases. The course is designed in a way that it introduces all the four modules along with the basics and elementary vocabulary. The four modules are reading, writing, listening and speaking. 

  • It takes around 90 hours to complete this course.
  • 75 hours for overall level training.
  • 15 hours for exam preparation and practice.

Course goal: 

This course aims to provide you with an overview of the basics of the German language. One can understand and use the most commonly used expressions and phrases to meet the immediate needs.

One can introduce oneself and others and can ask and answer questions in various situations, such as supermarkets, restaurants, shopping malls and getting directions. 

Learning objectives:

Reading: 

1. Learning the basics of reading.

2. Understanding short and simple texts and dialogues.

Writing: 

1. Writing about basic topics, such as, profession, hobby, routine and vacation.

2. Being able to write easy formal and informal mails and letters. 

Speaking:

1. Introducing oneself and others.

2. Being able to ask questions and answer the same.

3. Learning the basics of picture description.

Listening:

1. Understanding the basic conversations and reports. 

2. Evolving and developing the ability to listen and pick the known words.

Course Assessment: 

Students’ progress will be assessed on a weekly basis with feedback given in the class. Conducting regular memorizing activities in order to enhance the vocabulary and  regular tests to review and revise.
